EV Charging Cost Calculator

Estimate what home EV charging may cost at your state's average electricity rate versus a modelled improved supply rate. All figures are estimates, not guarantees.

All-in residential average, May 2026. Grid operator: PJM. Roughly 55% of that rate is supply — the part you can change.

This estimate covers EV charging only. A rate change would apply to eligible supply usage across the household, not only the vehicle.

Want the actual current rate for your utility? Call (833) 840-5043 — an agent can check current options in about two minutes.

Estimate only. Uses your state's average residential rate for May 2026, assumes supply is about 55% of your all-in rate, and applies a 30% reduction to the supply portion alone. Delivery charges don't change. Your actual rate depends on your utility, your usage pattern and the plans available where you live.

How the EV charging estimate works

Home charging adds real kilowatt-hours to your electric bill. The calculator converts the miles you drive into monthly charging kWh (at about 3.3 miles per kWh for an average EV), prices those kWh at your state's dated average residential rate, and models what the same charging would cost on an improved supply rate.

Why EV charging is a supply-rate question

Because charging is just electricity usage, it's priced by the same supply rate as the rest of your home — and the delivery portion of a charging kWh is priced exactly like any other kWh. A fixed electricity rate applies to eligible supply usage across the household, not only the vehicle. Actual charging efficiency varies by vehicle, charger and temperature, so treat the result as directional. For market background, see how default supply rates work.
